Spanish nuclear plant component supplier Ensa has signed two contracts worth a total of 120 million euro for the supply of 11 replacement steam generators for pressurised water reactor units in France and the US.
The first contract, with Westinghouse, is for the supply of three steam generators and a reactor pressure vessel head for the two-unit Beaver Valley nuclear plant in Pennsylvania. The components are scheduled to be delivered in 2016, Ensa said.
The second contract, with Areva of France, is for two sets of four replacement steam generators, also for delivery in 2016. Ensa did not say which nuclear plants the generators are for, but did say they were for 1,300-megawatt units. Ensa said the generators will allow the life of the nuclear plants to be extended by 20 years.
The company said that following the signing of the two contracts its order book contained work worth about one million man-hours, the company's highest level yet.
