Spanish nuclear power plants generated over 19% of electricity in 2025
The seven nuclear reactors operating in Spain generated 19.06% of the country's net electricity last year. Once again, they constitute the energy source that operated at full capacity for the most hours, according to provisional data from the Spanish electric utility Red Eléctrica de España (REE) analyzed by Foro Nuclear.
With only 5.28% of total installed capacity, nuclear energy produced a total of 51,836.14 GWh net in 2025. It was the second-largest source of electricity in the Spanish power system as it generated 19.06% of total electricity output, according to provisional REE data.
The Spanish nuclear fleet produced electricity in a continuous and stable manner, without relying on external factors. In fact, in 2025 it operated at full power for an average of 7,283 hours, representing 83.14% of the total hours in the year, well above all other generation technologies.

In 2025, of all electricity generated in Spain without emissions (74.53% of the total), nuclear power accounted for 25.58%. This further reinforces its role as a key ally in the fight against climate change.
According to Foro Nuclear, the 2025 results confirm that nuclear inertial and synchronous power is a strategic asset for the electricity system, providing stability and contributing to the reduction of emissions.
