
New US-Mexico Nuclear Cooperation Agreement
The US and Mexico have signed an agreement to cooperate in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
The agreement will give Mexico access to modern nuclear technologies and reflects the country's interest in strenghtening its nuclear sector, according to a setaement from the Mexican foreign ministry.
The agreeement will come into effect once it is ratified by the legislatures of the two countries
The ministry added that this agreement will facilitate the exchange of information, nuclear equipment, materials and services, as well as best practices in nuclear regulation and governance. The agreeement will come into effect once it is ratified by the legislatures of the two countries.
Mexico has two reactor units in commercial operation, while the US has 99 in operation and two under construction.
