The technology used at this stage, just like at the previous one, is what’s known as 2nd Generation of nuclear reactors. For the first time now there was widespread national participation in main primary circuit and fuel cycle components, thanks to the participation of the Spanish companies ENSA and ENUSA respectively. The fixed minimum national participation percentages reached 65%.

The nuclear power plants from the third stage were Sayago, Trillo I and II, Valdecaballeros I and II (it was never connected to the grid) and Vandellós II and III (unit III was not built). The Preliminary Construction Authorizations set a degree of national participation above that from the previous stage. Along with Sayago, two other sites were projected that did not receive Construction Authorization due to the moratorium.

In the consignments from Civil Works and Assembly participation was practically 100%, while Engineering was 80 to 95% and Other Services was above 95%

What was the percentage of participation from the Spanish Nuclear Industry?

For the nuclear power plants at this stage, the estimated degree of national participation was set between 80 and 80% depending on the concrete project and the origin of the information. In the consignments from Civil Works and Assembly participation was practically 100%, while Engineering was 80 to 95% and Other Services was above 95%. In the case of Equipment Goods, national participation was between 70 and 78%.
