VINCI Construction acquires Marsein, expanding into Spanish nuclear services

VINCI Construction, a French global construction and engineering company, has acquired Marsein, a well-established Spanish company that specializes in nuclear services and maintenance has acquired Marsein, one of Spain’s leading nuclear service providers with operations encompassing mechanical maintenance, welding, decommissioning and waste management.

Marsein, with some 280 employees and €32 million in revenue in 2024, brings to the table around 40 years’ experience — including mechanical maintenance, welding, decommissioning and waste-management services. The company has contributed to the development of nuclear capabilities in Spain and was involved in the nation’s first reactor decommissionings (at Vandellós I, José Cabrera–Zorita, and Santa María de Garoña).

Through acquisition by VINCI’s nuclear-services subsidiary Nuvia (previously operating in 16 countries), VINCI Construction establishes a solid presence in Spain. The deal will combine Marsein’s local experience with Nuvia’s technological resources and global expertise, thus enhancing maintenance and decommissioning capabilities.

With its broad background — ranging from civil-engineering and nuclear-facility maintenance to supply of radiation-protection and detection equipment — VINCI Construction is well positioned to leverage large-scale nuclear-sector projects worldwide. Past high-profile undertakings include work on ITER in Cadarache, the confinement of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and the expansion of enrichment facilities such as Orano’s Georges Besse 2 plant at Tricastin.
