The Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant produced over 6.5% of the national electric consumption in 2022

During 2022, the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant in Cáceres, Spain, generated a brute production of 16.682 billion kilowatts per hour. Unit 1 produced 8,766 GWh and unit 2 a total of 7,916 GWh. This is a contribution of over 6.5% of the electric energy consumed in Spain.

Almaraz is the electric generation plant with the highest contribution to the Spanish electric system throughout history, according to a statement from owner company Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo. Last year it reached the four highest best record since the start of its commercial operation in 1983, even though Unit 2 was shut down for 39.5 days for its 27th refuelling outage. Also during 2022 it reached the best accident rate: 1,126 days and over 6.9 million hours of work without any accidents that resulted in lost or restricted work or fatalities.
