Chinese Nuclear Company acquires spanish engineering firm, Nusim

On December 20, the member units of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) environmental protection completed the equity delivery procedures of Spanish Nusim, S.A.

This acquisition is part of a strategic international expansion plan to participate in environmental protection projects in Europe, Africa and South America, including the dismantling of European nuclear power plants

Nusim company, member of the Spanish Nuclear Forum (Foro Nuclear), founded in 1982, is an engineering design company headquartered in Madrid, Spain, with a history of nearly 40 years in the field of nuclear decommissioning treatment. It focuses on the design and manufacturing of nuclear facility decommissioning treatment tooling and equipment, and has successively undertaken the systematic solution of radioactive waste treatment projects in Spain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and other countries and regions.

China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) is one of the largest publicly owned business groups in China and the largest dedicated to nuclear energy, covering its entire production cycle, from uranium mining to the dismantling of facilities, through uranium enrichment, the construction and operation of nuclear power plants and the treatment and storage of radioactive waste. The organization employs more than 150,000 people, of which a significant number work in design and engineering, with 23 design and research institutes throughout the Chinese territory.

Its acquisition of Nusim was part of a strategic international expansion plan to participate in environmental protection projects in Europe, Africa and South America, including the dismantling of European nuclear power plants. CNNC reported on its website it has a "clear intention to cooperate in the globalization of the entire industrial chain of the nuclear sector, improving the quality and efficiency of the Chinese nuclear industry in environmental protection."
